Sobre el álbum
El álbum debut Age Ain't Nothing But a Number presentó al mundo a una Aaliyah de apenas quince años con un talento y una seguridad extraordinarios. Producido y escrito en su totalidad por R. Kelly, este disco establece la imagen de la artista, una mezcla de dulzura vocal y una actitud callejera y desenfadada. De esta manera, el sonido se enmarca dentro del new jack swing y el R&B contemporáneo de principios de los noventa, con ritmos bailables y baladas suaves.
Además, el álbum generó éxitos como "Back & Forth" y la canción que le da título, que mostraron la increíble química entre la producción de Kelly y la sedosa voz de la joven cantante.
