Sobre el álbum
Con su segundo álbum, Breakaway, la artista texana no solo evitó la maldición del segundo disco, sino que entregó la obra maestra que la definiría como una superestrella global. Publicado en 2004, este trabajo supone una ruptura ("breakaway") radical con el sonido de su debut, abrazando un pop-rock enérgico, guitarrero y lleno de himnos generacionales. Por esta razón, es uno de los álbumes de pop más influyentes de la década de los 2000.
En primer lugar, Kelly Clarkson tomó un mayor control creativo y se alió con los productores y compositores más importantes del momento, como el sueco Max Martin y su entonces pupilo Dr. Luke. De hecho, esta colaboración resultó en una colección de canciones de una perfección pop casi insultante. Por consiguiente, el disco se convirtió en una fábrica de éxitos.
Además, el álbum es un desfile de singles icónicos. "Since U Been Gone" es, posiblemente, una de las mejores canciones pop de la historia, un himno de ruptura catártico y furioso. Mientras tanto, "Behind These Hazel Eyes" y "Walk Away" continúan esa senda de pop-rock con estribillos memorables.
