Sobre el álbum
Con el álbum The Heart Of The Matter, de 1985, Kenny Rogers comienza a regresar paulatinamente a un sonido más cercano a sus raíces country. Por lo tanto, aunque el disco todavía tiene una producción de pop de los 80, se puede apreciar un mayor peso de los arreglos y las temáticas country.
Así pues, el álbum fue producido por George Martin, el legendario productor de The Beatles, lo que le da un toque de distinción y una calidad sonora excepcional. De hecho, la canción "Morning Desire" se convirtió en un número uno en las listas de country, marcando su regreso a la cima del género.
Por consiguiente, "The Heart Of The Matter" es un disco de transición, una obra que equilibra con acierto el pop y el country, y que muestra a un artista que empieza a sentir la necesidad de volver a casa musicalmente.
