El segundo álbum de la banda, Hydra, fue una respuesta audaz a las críticas que los tildaban de ser una simple banda de pop comercial. En este trabajo, el grupo se adentró de lleno en el rock progresivo, creando un álbum conceptual más oscuro, complejo y experimental. "Hydra" es un disco más desafiante que su predecesor, con composiciones más largas, estructuras intrincadas y una temática de fantasía.
Pese a su ambición, el álbum logró producir un éxito con la canción "99", una balada melancólica con un toque melódico irresistible. El resto del disco exige una mayor atención por parte del oyente. La banda demostraba que su virtuosismo no tenía límites.
