Con su tercer álbum, Late at night, de 1999, Dover se enfrentaba al inmenso desafío de suceder a un fenómeno como 'Devil came to me'. Para este trabajo, la banda decide fichar por una multinacional y contar con una producción mucho más potente y pulida. El disco fue grabado en Seattle con el prestigioso productor Barrett Jones, conocido por su trabajo con bandas como Nirvana o Foo Fighters.
El sonido del álbum es más grande, más limpio y con arreglos más sofisticados que en su predecesor. Las guitarras suenan enormes y la sección rítmica es impecable. 'Late at night' es un disco de rock alternativo de una calidad internacional, que demuestra la increíble evolución de la banda como músicos.
El álbum fue otro éxito de ventas masivo, consolidando a Dover como la banda de rock más grande de España. El primer sencillo, "DJ", es un tema de rock enérgico con un estribillo memorable que dominó las radios. La canción que da título al disco es una de sus piezas más melódicas y accesibles.
