La discografía de Dover arranca de manera oficial con este álbum debut de 1995, una obra que presentó a una de las bandas de rock más importantes e influyentes de la historia de la música española. 'Sister', de hecho, es un disco grabado con muy pocos medios y en inglés, una apuesta arriesgada que, sin embargo, ya contenía toda la esencia de su sonido. Por lo tanto, es un trabajo de rock alternativo crudo, directo y lleno de furia.

En consecuencia, el sonido del álbum está profundamente influenciado por la escena grunge y el rock alternativo de Seattle de principios de los 90, especialmente por bandas como Nirvana. Las guitarras de las hermanas Amparo y Cristina Llanos son afiladas y distorsionadas, y la sección rítmica es contundente y sin artificios.

Además, la voz de Cristina Llanos ya se muestra como un instrumento único: una mezcla de fragilidad y de una rabia desgarradora que se convertiría en la seña de identidad del grupo. Como resultado, canciones como la que da título al disco, "Sister", o "Come with Me" son ejemplos perfectos de esta energía juvenil y de la calidad de sus composiciones.

Aunque el álbum tuvo una repercusión muy limitada en su momento, con el tiempo se ha convertido en una obra de culto. En definitiva, 'Sister' es un debut fundamental, el sonido de una banda que, contra todo pronóstico, estaba a punto de cambiar la historia del rock en España desde un pequeño local de ensayo de Madrid.
