The resistance es un álbum de Muse, publicado en 2009 por Warner Bros. Records. El disco incluye 11 canciones, entre ellas «Uprising», «Resistance», «Undisclosed Desires» y «United States Of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage)».

La ambición de la banda alcanzó nuevas cotas con "The Resistance", un álbum que en 2009 se sumó a la discografía de Muse. En este trabajo, el grupo profundiza en sus influencias de la música clásica y el rock sinfónico, con una clara inspiración en la legendaria banda Queen. Es su obra más grandilocuente y orquestal hasta ese momento.
El disco está liderado por el himno de rock de estadio "Uprising", que se convirtió en un éxito mundial. La pieza central del álbum es la monumental "Exogenesis: Symphony", una sinfonía en tres partes que fusiona el rock con la música clásica de manera magistral. Muse demuestra una vez más su negativa a ponerse límites.
Pese a su carácter pomposo, el álbum también contiene grandes canciones de pop-rock como "Undisclosed Desires". "The Resistance" es un trabajo valiente y excesivo, la obra de una banda que no teme sonar grandiosa y que sigue llevando su propuesta musical a un nuevo nivel de complejidad.
