Sobre el álbum
El segundo álbum del trío, Reggatta De Blanc, expande y refina la innovadora fusión de rock y reggae que habían presentado en su debut, consolidando su sonido único. De hecho, el título, una pseudo-traducción al francés de "reggae blanco", es toda una declaración de intenciones. Con este trabajo, la banda gana en confianza y la interacción entre sus tres miembros alcanza un nuevo nivel de telepatía musical, lo que les permite experimentar con más espacio y ritmo.
El disco arranca con la potencia de "Message in a Bottle", una de sus canciones más icónicas, construida sobre un inolvidable arpegio de guitarra de Andy Summers. A continuación, "Walking on the Moon" ofrece un ambiente más etéreo y espacioso, con una línea de bajo hipnótica que demuestra su dominio del ritmo reggae. Ambos temas se convirtieron en éxitos masivos y mostraron su increíble habilidad para crear composiciones complejas que, al mismo tiempo, eran irresistiblemente pegadizas.
Además de los singles, el álbum contiene joyas como la frenética "It's Alright for You" y la pieza instrumental que le da título, "Reggatta de Blanc", que les valió su primer premio Grammy.
