Sobre el álbum
La discografía de Chris Isaak presenta con este álbum de 1998 un trabajo que recupera la energía del rock and roll y explora un sonido más oscuro y potente. Por lo tanto, 'Speak of the Devil' se aleja de la atmósfera acústica de su predecesor para volver a la instrumentación eléctrica. De hecho, el título mismo ("Hablando del diablo") ya sugiere una temática más cruda y, a veces, amenazante.
En consecuencia, muchas de las canciones del disco están construidas sobre riffs de guitarra más duros y ritmos más marcados. Chris Isaak, además, utiliza una producción más moderna, con sutiles toques de electrónica y teclados que añaden nuevas texturas a su sonido.

El primer sencillo, "Please", es un ejemplo perfecto de esta mezcla: una canción con una melodía pop irresistible pero con un arreglo de rock potente.
