La discografía de Pink Floyd alcanza un nuevo nivel de grandilocuencia con este álbum. Principalmente, destaca por la monumental suite orquestal de 23 minutos que ocupa toda la primera cara. Para esta pieza, la banda colabora con el compositor de vanguardia Ron Geesin, fusionando así el rock progresivo con arreglos de metal y coro de una manera nunca antes escuchada. Ciertamente, el resultado es pomposo y abrumador, pero también innegablemente innovador y valiente para su tiempo.
Después de esa épica introducción, la segunda cara del disco nos devuelve a un formato más convencional, aunque igualmente inspirado. De hecho, cada miembro aporta una canción, resultando en una mezcla fascinante. Por ejemplo, "If" de Roger Waters es una balada folk introspectiva, mientras que, por otro lado, "Fat Old Sun" de David Gilmour evoca una apacible tarde de verano inglesa. En definitiva, aunque los propios músicos han expresado opiniones encontradas sobre este trabajo, "Atom Heart Mother" fue un paso crucial en su camino hacia las grandes obras conceptuales de los años 70.

- pepe: uno de los mejores de pink floyd.aunque en este disco hay un punto de inflexion´ya no suenan tan psicodelicos y si mas orquestales,se nota mucho sobre todo en el 1.tema,que es muy orquestal;pero es un autentico discazo!
