El proceso de grabación
Tras la salida de Barrett, Pink Floyd, ya como un cuarteto estable, buscaba consolidar su nueva identidad. El encargo de componer la música para "More", una película sobre un joven autoestopista que se sumerge en el mundo de las drogas y el exceso en Ibiza, les dio la oportunidad de experimentar fuera de las presiones de un álbum de estudio convencional. La banda compuso y grabó todo el material en tan solo ocho días en los Pye Studios de Londres, viendo escenas de la película y creando música que se ajustara al estado de ánimo. Este rápido proceso de grabación le da al álbum un carácter espontáneo y directo. Fue también su primer álbum autoproducido.
Sonido y estilo
La naturaleza de "More" como banda sonora lo convierte en un álbum muy diverso y fragmentado. Está dividido casi por igual entre temas instrumentales atmosféricos y canciones con letra. Lo más sorprendente es el contraste estilístico. El álbum contiene algunas de las piezas acústicas y de folk-rock más bellas de su repertorio, como "Green Is the Colour" y "Cymbaline", que muestran la creciente influencia de la voz y la composición de David Gilmour.
