Sobre el álbum
El aclamado The Broadway Album representa un regreso triunfal de Barbra Streisand a sus raíces y al repertorio que la vio nacer. Tras una década de éxitos en el pop, en este disco la artista decide volver a grabar canciones del teatro musical de Broadway, pero con un enfoque completamente nuevo. De este modo, Streisand, con arreglos de Peter Matz, reinterpreta clásicos de compositores como Stephen Sondheim o Leonard Bernstein con una profundidad dramática y una madurez extraordinarias.
Además, el álbum fue un acto de valentía artística que iba a contracorriente de las modas musicales del momento.
