Loba es un álbum de Shakira, publicado en 2009. El disco incluye 12 canciones, entre ellas «Loba», «Lo hecho está hecho», «Años luz» y «Long time».
Lanzado en 2009, Loba (titulado "She Wolf" en su versión en inglés) es el octavo álbum de estudio de Shakira y representa su inmersión más profunda en el mundo del electropop y el dance. Tras el éxito masivo de sus proyectos "Fijación Oral", la artista colombiana dio un giro sónico audaz, dejando atrás el pop-rock orgánico para abrazar los sintetizadores, los ritmos de discoteca y una producción más robótica y pulida, muy influenciada por la escena musical de finales de la década de 2000. El álbum, conceptualmente centrado en la liberación femenina y el deseo, es uno de sus trabajos más cohesivos y bailables, un proyecto lúdico y arriesgado que, aunque no alcanzó las ventas estratosféricas de sus predecesores, consolidó su estatus como una innovadora camaleónica en el pop global.
Grabación y contexto
Después de la gira mundial "Oral Fixation Tour", Shakira se sintió inspirada por la música electrónica y de baile que dominaba las listas de éxitos. Quería crear un álbum que reflejara esa energía. Para ello, colaboró con un equipo de productores de vanguardia, entre los que destacan The Neptunes (el dúo formado por Pharrell Williams y Chad Hugo), Wyclef Jean y John Hill (conocido por su trabajo con Santigold).
La grabación tuvo lugar en estudios de todo el mundo, desde las Bahamas hasta Los Ángeles. El proceso fue muy experimental. Shakira pasó horas en el estudio con los productores creando ritmos y jugando con sintetizadores. Según ella, la inspiración para la canción principal, "Loba", le llegó de forma visceral, aullando en el estudio, lo que marcó la dirección temática del álbum: una exploración de los instintos primarios y la libertad femenina.
Sonido y estilo
El sonido de "Loba" es predominantemente electropop y synth-pop, con fuertes influencias del disco, el funk y la música de baile de los 80. El álbum está construido sobre ritmos programados, líneas de bajo de sintetizador y melodías vocales pegadizas. Es un sonido más "frío" y robótico en comparación con la calidez orgánica de sus trabajos anteriores. Las letras, coescritas en parte con el cantautor uruguayo Jorge Drexler en la versión en español, son ingeniosas y a menudo metafóricas, utilizando la figura de la "loba" para hablar del deseo femenino, la libertad y la insatisfacción con la monotonía.
Las canciones del álbum
El sencillo principal, "Loba" ("She Wolf" en inglés), es la canción que define el álbum. Con su ritmo disco pulsante y su memorable aullido, es un himno a la liberación. Su vídeo, en el que Shakira muestra su increíble flexibilidad en una jaula dorada, se convirtió en un fenómeno viral. "Did It Again" ("Lo hecho está hecho") es un tema de electropop con influencias de la música de la India.
"Give It Up to Me", con la colaboración del rapero Lil Wayne y producido por Timbaland, fue un añadido de última hora para el mercado estadounidense, un intento de crear un éxito de hip-hop. La balada "Gypsy" ("Gitana") es uno de los pocos momentos acústicos del álbum, una canción de folk-pop que explora un estilo de vida nómada y que contó con la participación del tenista Rafael Nadal en su videoclip.

Aunque no replicó las ventas masivas de sus álbumes anteriores, "Loba" fue un éxito comercial sólido, especialmente en Europa y América Latina.

Lo que dijo la crítica
La crítica recibió el álbum con opiniones generalmente positivas. Fue elogiado por su sonido cohesivo y su audacia al explorar un nuevo territorio musical. Rolling Stone lo describió como "un álbum de dance-pop elegante y potente". Algunos fans de su faceta más rockera se sintieron desconectados del nuevo sonido. Pese a ello, "Loba" es visto hoy como un álbum valiente y divertido, una instantánea perfecta del sonido electropop de finales de la década y una demostración más de la capacidad de Shakira para reinventarse con éxito.
