Antes de entrar al estudio

La grabación en los estudios Power Station de Nueva York fue un proceso rápido y eficiente. Rodgers reunió a una banda de músicos de sesión de primer nivel, incluyendo al entonces desconocido guitarrista de blues Stevie Ray Vaughan, cuyo estilo de guitarra crudo y virtuoso añadió un filo de rock al pulido sonido funk del álbum.

El sonido de "Let's Dance" es una sofisticada fusión de funk, soul, y new wave.
